Shoulder issues prevented Pedro Feliciano from throwing a pitch in the major leagues during his two-year, $8 million contract with the Yankees, but he’s hoping for better luck in 2013.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, Feliciano’s agent said that the veteran left-hander is healthy and intends to pitch in the Puerto Rican Winter League.

Feliciano, 36, had rotator cuff surgery in September of 2010 and nearly made it back to the majors late this season before he sprained his ankle while on a rehab assignment. He’s nothing more than a lottery ticket at this point, but he could pitch his way into a spring training invite with a good showing during winter ball.
