Exactly one month after the signing was reported as done the Rangers and right-hander Colby Lewis have made things official, announcing a one-year, $6 million deal.
Lewis’ recovery from October knee surgery delayed the whole process by placing added emphasis on the pre-signing physical exam, but there was never much doubt about him remaining in Texas. Lewis has been with the Rangers for two different stints spanning a total of eight seasons, the latest dating back to 2010.
He logged a career-high 205 innings last season and had a nice-looking win-loss record, but posted a poor 4.66 ERA with just 6.2 strikeouts per nine innings at age 35.
