Richard Ben Cramer: 1950-2013

Richard Ben Cramer

Ricahrd Ben Cramer won a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting and his best known work was probably his mega-tome on the 1988 presidential election, but I -- and some of you -- probably knew him best for his baseball writing. Cramer died today, of lung cancer, at age 62.

The baseball work he’s best known for is “Joe DiMaggio: The Hero’s Life,” a biography which came out in 2000. He also wrote on Ted Williams. You can read his excellent “What Do You Think of Ted Williams Now?” at Esquire here.
