There’s been some speculation that St. Louis (or another contending team) could make a run at trading for Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and his massive long-term contract, but the Rockies let the air out of that balloon yesterday.

Senior vice president of major league operations Bill Geivett told Thomas Harding of MLB.com: “He’s not going anywhere.”

Who knows whether or not that will actually squash the rumor from continuing to swirl around, but there’s really been no indication from anyone actually associated with the Rockies that it had much life anyway. Tulowitzki is signed through 2020 and has a total of $134 million remaining on his contract.
