We learned yesterday that the Dodgers and Giants had both submitted offers to the Miami Marlins on starter Ricky Nolasco. According to the report, the Dodgers were willing to part with a pitching prospect and assume all of his remaining $5.7 million due this season. Ken Rosenthal has an updated report in which his source tells him the Dodgers have offered three prospects -- “none upper echelon” -- and that the two teams are close to an agreement.
The 30-year-old right-hander will have earned $11.5 million for this 2013 efforts and is eligible for free agency after the season. The Dodgers enter tonight’s game at 41-44, just 3.5 games out of first place in the NL West.
