Ryan Braun made his first start since September 18 on Saturday night in St. Louis, but he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and his lingering back injury apparently didn’t respond too well.
Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Brewers have shut Braun down for the remainder of the 2015 season. Braun could undergo surgery on his back within the next couple of weeks. It’s been an issue since July.
The 31-year-old outfielder will finish with a .285/.356/.498 batting line, 25 home runs, and 84 RBI after 140 games.
He is still owed $96 million from Milwaukee.
