Mets bullpen stalwart Seth Lugo fractured his left pinkie toe and will miss the start of the spring training exhibition season, MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports. Lugo suffered the injury on Monday night, stubbing his toe in his Port St. Lucie home.

Lugo, 30, has quietly been invaluable to the Mets over the course of his four-year career. He owns a 3.27 ERA with 337 strikeouts and 90 walks across 346 2/3 innings. He has made 31 starts and 120 relief appearances.

Despite the late start, Lugo should be able to heal with plenty of time to go before the start of the regular season. He will once again be part of a corps responsible for bridging the gap to closer Edwin Díaz.
