The deal was struck some time ago, but today the Cleveland Indians officially signed Edwin Encarnacion to a three-year, $60 million contract with a club option for 2020. Encarnacion didn’t take his physical until yesterday, thus the delay. He was officially introduced by the Indians at a press conference this morning.

Encarnacion hit 42 home runs and 127 RBI in 160 games last season for the Blue Jays and has been one of the better and more consistent power bats in all of baseball over the last five years. While there were some signs of decline this past season, he’ll still provide a big offensive upgrade for the Indians.
