For those who aren’t busy seeking new clubs and representation, the offseason is a time to let loose. Anthony Rizzo, Dexter Fowler, and David Ross made cameos in a couple of Saturday Night Live sketches. Hunter Pence attended BlizzCon, an annual video games convention in Anaheim. Felix Hernandez took his family to South Africa for a safari in Kruger National Park.
Indians’ right-hander Trevor Bauer, meanwhile, spent Friday night tutoring one of his Twitter followers in math. They started chatting about Bauer’s drone -- how much it cost, where he flies it, and so on -- and eventually got around to an upcoming math test.
for every 1 unit on the x axis go 2 units on the y axis. y intercept is where it crosses the y axis. Make y 0 and figure x.

(-4,4) also works, as does (5,13) etc

While Bauer jumped in with a succinct explanation of slope intercept form, the conversation sparked other responses from followers who were similarly stumped by their math homework. (It should be noted that Bauer majored in mechanical engineering at UCLA.)
@BauerOutage if you are given two points (9,5) and (-4,2) how do you figure out the equation that passes through both points?

y=mx+b. M is slope. Change in y over change in x. You can calculate that with the two points. Use that as m then plug in one of

the points and solve for b

1.5*2.3 has 2 decimal places. Multiply 15*23. 3*15 is 45+ 20*15 is 300. That equals 345. Add two decimal places to = 3.45

Tutoring may not be as lucrative a profession as throwing baseballs for the Indians, but you can add it to the list of things Bauer does really well.
