Two weeks ago the Yankees acquired Jeff Francis from the A’s as a roster reinforcement, but now they’ve designated the journeyman left-hander for assignment.

Francis made just two appearances for the Yankees, both in relief, which continues a pattern of him moving from team to team with very short stays. He’s become sort of like an all-time quarterback, but for teams that need a fifth starter or long reliever.

This season alone Francis has pitched for three different teams in the majors.
