Cubs optioned RHP Nick Neidert and LHP’s Eric Stout and Bailey Horn to minor league camp.
Neidert and Stout were in camp this spring as non-roster invitees and figure to get a shot at some point this upcoming season. The pair will head to Triple-A Iowa as organizational relief depth to open the regular season. The latest batch of cuts trims the Cubs’ camp roster to 51 players.

Nick Neidert pitched well in Friday’s Cactus League start against the White Sox, allowing only one run on three hits over 2 2/3 innings.
The right-hander struck out one in the ballgame and didn’t issue a base on balls. The only blemish on his day came in the second inning as Eloy Jimenez doubled and came around to score on a ground out off the bat of Romy Gonzalez. The 26-year-old hurler has had a rough go of it this spring, registering a 6.23 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over five innings.

Cubs signed RHP Nick Neidert to a minor league contract.
Neidert was non-tendered by the Marlins last month and finds a new home with the Cubs. According to Robert Murray of FanSided, the deal includes opt-outs on June 1 and July 1, if he’s not in the majors. The 26-year-old right-hander spent the majority of last season at Triple-A Jacksonville and wound up making one start for Miami on July 30. He’ll provide Chicago with some organizational pitching depth this season.

    Marlins non-tendered RHP Nick Neidert.
He had been designated for assignment earlier this week. Neidert has a very good idea what he’s doing on the mound, but the stuff probably isn’t there to make him a major league starter. A fresh start overseas might be in the cards here.

Marlins designated RHP Nick Neidert for assignment.
Neidert had his 2022 season cut short after undergoing season-ending knee surgery in late August. The Marlins have yet to announce any sort of clear timeline for his potential return. The 25-year-old right-hander made just one start at the big league level in 2022 -- giving up two runs on five hits over five innings of work.

Nick Neidert recently underwent surgery on his right knee.
There aren’t any further details at this time, but Neidert is obviously done for the remainder of the 2022 season. He had been on the minor league injured list since August 9 because of nagging knee discomfort.

Marlins optioned RHP Nick Neidert to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Neidert is sent down to make room for Edward Cabrera. The right-hander was solid with five innings of two-run baseball in his only appearance with the Marlins this year.

Marlins recalled RHP Nick Neidert from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Neidert was just sent down yesterday, but he gets to come back after Anthony Bass and Zach Pop were traded. He won’t be available tonight or maybe tomorrow after throwing 82 pitches for the Marlins in a start Saturday, but he can work out of the pen after that.

Marlins optioned RHP Nick Neidert to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Neidert pitched well in a spot start over the weekend, but with Jesús Luzardo back from the injured list he’s no longer needed.

Nick Neidert pitched well in a losing effort against the Mets on Saturday afternoon, allowing just two runs on five hits over his five frames.
The right-hander struck out three on the afternoon and did not walk a batter. All of the scoring done against him came in the third inning, as Jeff McNeil launched a solo homer and Francisco Lindor tacked on a run-scoring single. That would prove to be all of the run support that Carlos Carrasco would need in this one. With Trevor Rogers (back) on the injured list, Neidert should have an opportunity to take another turn in the rotation on Friday against the Cubs in Chicago.
