Marlins optioned LHP Oswaldo Mairena and LHP Steve Kent to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Marlins will keep one more lefty than expected because Michael Tejera will open the year in the rotation, but neither Mairena nor Kent were impressive enough to claim the job. It could go to Tommy Phelps.
