Brewers selected RHP Pat Egan from the Orioles with the 10th pick in the Rule 5 Draft.
Egan, 26, owns a 3.24 ERA over parts of four minor league seasons, but was hammered to the tune of a 5.11 ERA over 27 relief appearances in his first taste Triple-A ball this past season. He only averaged 4.5 K/9 in 2010, so until he learns how to put batters away, we can’t see him succeeding against more advanced competition.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Rule 5 pick right-hander Pat Egan is currently slowed due to hip and groin tightness.
The Brewers selected Egan from the Orioles in December’s Rule 5 Draft, but it’s not known when they’ll get a look at him in game action. “It’s something they said he had in camp last year, also,” said Roenicke. “I’m not concerned about (relievers) being ready to pitch (by opening day) but if a guy is trying to make the team, he needs to be out there and throw as much as he can so we can see him.” One potential avenue to keep the 26-year-old right-hander would be to start him on the disabled list.

Orioles reacquired Rule 5 Draft pick RHP Pat Egan from the Brewers.
Egan was selected 10th overall in this past December’s Rule 5 Draft, but hip and groin tightness plagued him throughout Brewers camp and he will head back to the O’s farm system.
