Solomon

Solomon last pitched in the big leagues back in 2023 when he made 26 appearances for the Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old doesn’t miss a ton of bats and has struggled with his control in recent years. He’s merely extra organizational relief depth at this stage of his career.

Solomon, 27, had been pitching for the High Point Rockers in the independent Atlantic League where he posted a 5.68 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 19/3 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings. Despite the poor results, something caught the Rangers eye and now he’ll serve as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Round Rock.

Solomon passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week and will remain with Arizona as extra organizational relief depth. The 26-year-old righty has made five relief appearances this season in the majors, allowing 18 runs on 17 hits with a 6/11 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings.

Solomon has been jettisoned from Arizona’s 40-man roster to make room for Kristian Robinson to be added back following an extended stint on the restricted list. The 26-year-old righty reliever struggled in five relief appearances this season for the Diamondbacks.

Solomon was getting hit has while mostly mopping up for the Diamondbacks; he allowed 18 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings over five relief appearances. He might be the next guy dropped from the 40-man roster when the Diamondbacks need a spot.

The Diamondbacks selected Solomon in the MiLB portion of the Rule 5 Draft last December. He has a 10.80 ERA across 3 1/3 inning in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast league. The 26-year-old will fill in middle relief after Zach Davies landed on the 15-day IL with a strained left oblique.

The right-hander was surprisingly designated for assignment by the Astros on Thursday, and it’s not shocking to see that he was picked up elsewhere. The right-hander posted a 1.29 ERA and 10/8 K/BB ratio over 14 innings during his time with the Astros in 2021. He’ll add bullpen depth for a Pirates team that could certainly use it.
