Halpin homered in his first two at-bats against Joe Ryan, hitting balls 401 and 398 feet to right center. His double in the seventh was also an impressive 105-mph drive. Halpin struggled to hit much better than .250 in the minors, but he is the Guardians’ best defensive center fielder, and he wouldn’t need to excel offensively in order to be at least a useful part-timer. He’s at .222/.243/.375 through 76 plate appearances.

Halpin has gone 9-for-53 (.170) in 56 plate appearances for the Guardians this season with a 16/1 K/BB ratio. He will just be a bench outfielder for the time being.

Halpin, 24, has struggled in his limited action with the Guardians this season, slashing .170/.185/.226 with zero homers, one RBI, two swipes and a 16/1 K/BB ratio in 56 plate appearances. He’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level until his services are needed once more.

Halpin rejoins Cleveland’s outfield mix with Angel Martínez hitting the shelf with a left foot fracture. The 24-year-old hit .167 (5-for-30) with one RBI and two steals in 18 games for the Guardians earlier this season. He’s unlikely to produce enough to be an impactful fantasy contributor, even with a semi-regular role.

Halpin was added to Cleveland’s 40-man roster last November after posting a serviceable .713 OPS with 12 homers and 12 steals last year at Double-A Akron. The 22-year-old outfielder was a third-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
