Bryce Harper launched a solo homer on Wednesday in a blowout loss to the Cubs.

It qualifies as a garbage time homer for Harper since the Phillies were trailing by more than a touchdown in the ninth inning of this one, but it counts all the same for fantasy purposes. It was his lone hit in four at-bats. The 33-year-old fantasy standout has gone deep four times in 18 games this season, including twice in his last five contests.

Trea Turner walloped his second home run of the season in Wednesday’s blowout loss to the Cubs.

Turner’s first-inning homer was the only offense Philadelphia was able to muster against Cubs lefty Shota Imanaga for six innings to open the contest. The 32-year-old veteran shortstop is off to a bit of a slow start, hitting .260 (19-for-73) with two homers, seven RBI and one steal through 18 games.

Jesús Luzardo was charged with nine runs — eight earned — over 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Cubs.

Not good. Luzardo was torched for 12 hits, his highest in a single start since last May he was clearly tipping pitches against the Brewers, including a two-run homer by speedster Nico Hoerner in the fifth inning. He finished with only four strikeouts and issued one walk. The unexpected meltdown raises Luzardo’s ERA from 6.23 to an unsightly 7.93 through four starts. The 28-year-old southpaw will attempt to turn things around in a rematch with the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Monday. At this point it’s getting challenging for fantasy managers to keep throwing him out there.

Alec Bohm is starting at third base and batting seventh against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Bohm has struggled to start the season, slashing .153/.227/.220 with one home run and 10 RBI in 66 plate appearances. What’s more, he is one of five qualified hitters who have not pulled a single ball in the air this season. He’s making plenty of contact, but he’s going to need to make a change to the type of contact he’s making if he’s going to be on fantasy radars.

Backhus was sent to Triple-A just a week ago, but will be back with Zach Pop (calf) landing on the injured list. The 28-year-old left-hander has allowed three runs on four hits in three innings for the Phillies with a 4/1 K/BB ratio.

Phillies have changed their starting rotation for the upcoming series with the Braves, with Taijuan Walker starting on Friday, Cristopher Sánchez starting Saturday, and Andrew Painter on Sunday.

Manager Rob Thomson said he wanted to break up his two righties, but that means that Painter will be on a full week’s rest since his last performance was also on Sunday. Sánchez will now be pitching on regular rest.

Edmundo Sosa drilled a three-run homer on Tuesday in a loss to the Cubs.

Sosa took Cubs reliever Colin Rea deep in the second inning for his first big fly of the season. Unfortunately, Philadelphia’s offense went completely silent afterwards, failing to score until the eighth inning in a one-sided loss to Chicago. The 30-year-old infielder finished 2-for-4 on the night. He could see an uptick in playing time if Alec Bohm’s early-season struggles persist.

Aaron Nola surrendered three runs over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Nola struck out five and issued a pair of walks. He’s recorded at least five strikeouts in three of his four starts and has allowed three earned runs or fewer while completing at least five innings in each outing. He’ll bring a respectable 4.03 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 24/6 K/BB ratio across 22 1/3 innings into a home outing against the Braves on Sunday.

Zack Wheeler (TOS) recorded nine strikeouts and allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Reading.

There’s no publicly available Statcast data below Triple-A, but The Athletic’s Matt Gelb reports Wheeler was sitting 94 mph and touched 95 in his first inning of work. The 35-year-old former fantasy ace’s diminished velocity has been a concern throughout his rehab assignment as he works his way back from last year’s thoracic outlet syndrome procedure, but it appears the Phillies are ready to bring him back to the majors soon. He’s expected to make a final rehab start at Double-A Reading on Sunday. His extensive track record suggests he can still be an impactful fantasy contributor, though it remains unclear whether he’ll return to his previous level of performance.
