Bryce Harper went 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and two walks in the Phillies 4-3 win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Harper put the Phillies on the board early, taking Randy Vásquez deep for a solo homer in the first inning. He’d reach two more times via walk, scoring on a base hit in the third. The 33-year-old first baseman is having an excellent season, hitting .272/.367/.533 with 13 homers, 33 runs scored, 33 RBI, and four steals across 229 plate appearances.
Trea Turner

PHI Shortstop #7

Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base against the Padres on Tuesday.

Turner extended the Phillies’ lead in the third inning with a solo homer off Randy Vásquez. He then knocked a base hit in the fifth and stole second, putting some power and speed on display on Tuesday. The 32-year-old shortstop is hitting .225/.279/.347 with six homers, 33 runs scored, 17 RBI, and 10 steals across 240 plate appearances.

Jhoan Duran tossed a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to record the save against the Padres on Tuesday.

Duran was summoned in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game against the Padres with a one-run lead. He tossed a clean frame on 14 pitches, striking out the final two batters to secure the win and convert his 11th save of the season. The 28-year-old right-hander has been dominant, posting a 1.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a 26/5 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings.
Aaron Nola

PHI Starting Pitcher #27

Aaron Nola allowed two runs and struck out five batters over six innings in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Nola had retired the first 11 Padres hitters before Gavin Sheets reached on an infield hit in the fourth inning. Manny Machado followed with a two-run homer. Nola settled back in for two more scoreless innings, giving up just one more hit. He issued zero walks and struck out five batters on 12 whiffs. The 32-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.72 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 56/18 K/BB ratio across 56 2/3 innings. He’ll look to keep working away at those ratios when he takes on these same Padres in Philadelphia next Tuesday.

Brandon Marsh was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Padres with a right middle finger sprain.

Marsh was 2-for-2 before leaving the contest in the fourth inning. It sounds like a possible injured list situation considering the nature of the injury. There should be some clarity on his status ahead of Wednesday’s contest.

Phillies released SS Sergio Alcántara.

Alcántara was jettisoned by the Phillies after slashing .223/.389/.348 with two homers and four steals in 35 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. The 29-year-old journeyman infielder got into one contest for the Giants last year as an emergency stopgap. He was in Nationals camp as a non-roster invitee earlier this spring. He’s merely organizational depth at this stage of his career but should be able to latch on somewhere else.
Kyle Schwarber

PHI Designated Hitter #12

Kyle Schwarber is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the Padres.

Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly has flipped Schwarber and Trea Turner on his lineup card. It’s something the club has done in the past and doesn’t carry massive fantasy ramifications. Schwarber launched his big league-leading 21st round-tripper during Monday’s series opener and has gone deep 10 times in 20 games since the start of May.
Adolis García

PHI Right Fielder #53

The Athletic’s Matt Gelb believes it is “fair to wonder” if Adolis García will be Philadelphia’s starting right fielder by the end of the season.

García is in a 2-for-43 slump with 24 strikeouts, carrying a .598 OPS on the season. The only thing saving García at this point is the fact that the Phillies don’t really have a better option, as Gelb quotes interim manager Don Mattingly as saying “I don’t really feel like we have a true alternative.” García is an obvious candidate to be replaced as we near the trade deadline, even if he does turn it around a bit from this current skid.
Kyle Schwarber

PHI Designated Hitter #12

Kyle Schwarber launched his major league-leading 21st home run of the season on Monday, lifting the Phillies to a 3-0 win over the Padres.

Schwarber took Padres starter Griffin Canning deep to right field in the opening frame for his first big fly since missing three games due to illness last week. The 33-year-old veteran slugger has done most of his damage since the start of May, leaving the yard an astounding 10 times in 20 contests during that span. He’s spent the last few years cementing his legacy as one of the most consistent power hitters of his generation and is on pace to eclipse the lofty 45-homer plateau for the fourth time in the last five years.
