Trea Turner is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Red Sox.

It’s an extremely rare break for Turner, who has started 10 consecutive games since May 2. The 32-year-old power/speed combo threat has hit a bit of a rough patch recently, hitting .182 (8-for-44) with 10 strikeouts since the start of May. It’ll be Edmundo Sosa taking over at shortstop and hitting ninth with a sizzling-hot Kyle Schwarber moving up to the leadoff spot to face Red Sox veteran righty Sonny Gray at Fenway Park.

Zack Wheeler pitched 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, striking out four, to get the victory as the Phillies edged the Red Sox 2-1 on Tuesday.

Wheeler caught quite a break in the seventh, as Wilyer Abreu’s blast to left was caught just in front of the 380-foot mark at Fenway Park. It would have been a homer in 29 parks, says Statcast. Wheeler’s first few innings tonight were truly remarkable; aided by a pair of double plays, he threw only six pitches in the first, six in the second and four in the third. He came in at 87 pitches in all, and though he allowed 11 hard-hit balls, he didn’t give up any extra-base hits. He’s 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA after four starts, and he’s due to face the Pirates in a matchup against Paul Skenes on Sunday.
Jhoan Duran

Jhoan Duran worked a scoreless ninth with a one-run lead Tuesday in a save against the Red Sox.

It’s Duran’s first save since he came off the injured list. He gave up a hit and a walk in the 21-pitch outing. Since tomorrow would be three appearances in four days for him, we’re guessing he’ll be unavailable. Brad Keller could close in his place.

Kyle Schwarber hit his league-best 17th homer and walked Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Schwarber has homered in five straight games and even collected two on Sunday. After going deep 56 times last year, he’s currently on pace to hit 65-66 this year. The homer tonight was his 357th, moving him past Joey Votto for 97th place on the all-time list. Yogi Berra and Carlos Lee are next at 358.
Bryson Stott

Bryson Stott went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a steal against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The Red Sox used a lefty opener tonight, but Stott was in there anyway. He might have started even against a traditional lefty, as the Phillies are taking a look at Edmundo Sosa in the outfield. Sosa has to play somewhere against lefties, but if he can handle left just fine, the Phillies are probably better off with Stott at second and Brandon Marsh in center than with Sosa at second, Justin Crawford in center and Stott on the bench. Stott is batting .256 with three homers, four doubles, 11 RBI and three steals in 11 games this month.
Dylan Carlson

Phillies signed OF Dylan Carlson to a minor league contract.

Carlson heads to Philadelphia as emergency organizational outfield depth. The 27-year-old former top prospect went 0-for-4 in three games for the Cubs last month. He got into 83 games for the Orioles last year, hitting .203/.278/.336 with six homers and three steals in 241 plate appearances.
Kyle Schwarber

Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-4 with two solo shots in the Phillies’ 6-0 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Schwarber is tied with Aaron Judge for the MLB lead at 16 homers, with Munetaka Murakami right behind the duo at 15. Schwarber is striking out a little more than typical to begin 2026, but he’s also barreling the ball at a higher-than-normal clip. The Phillies open a three-game series at Fenway Park on Tuesday.

Cristopher Sánchez earned his fourth win of 2026 on Mother’s Day against the Rockies, twirling seven shutout innings while striking out seven.

Sánchez needed 103 pitches in the outing, allowing six hits and walking none. In a weekend where neither Jesus Luzardo nor Aaron Nola could take advantage of facing the Rockies on the road, Sánchez made sure to. The 29-year-old southpaw is sporting a career-best strikeout percentage so far this season and continues to be worth every penny of the big extension he signed before Opening Day. He visits the Pirates next.

Jhoan Duran pitched a clean ninth in the Phillies’ 6-0 victory over the Rockies on Sunday.

Duran struck out two, needing 15 pitches (10 strikes) to get through the inning. It was his third appearance since returning from the injured list earlier this week, but he still hasn’t earned a save. Patience is encouraged as his skills are as dominant as ever, with a career-best strikeout percentage. Brad Keller is now just a bridge to the ninth in Philadelphia.
Bryce Harper

PHI 1st Baseman #3

Bryce Harper hit his 10th homer of the year as the Phillies shut out the Rockies on Mother’s Day.

Harper went 1-for-4 in the contest, and, with nearly as many walks (23) as strikeouts (26), he’s now batting .281/.376/.562 for the season. The star first baseman exited Saturday’s game in the first inning due to a migraine and showed no ill effects by homering in his first game back. It was part of a back-to-back effort alongside Kyle Schwarber in the first. Harper and the Phillies will visit the Red Sox at Fenway Park, kicking off a three-game set on Tuesday.
