Orioles selected RHP Randor Bierd from the Tigers with the third pick in the Rule 5 draft.
One of the better bets to stick, Bierd, 23, made a successful jump from low-A ball to Double-A last season, posting a 3.35 ERA and a 52/10 K/BB ratio in 45 2/3 IP with Erie. He doesn’t have closer-type upside, but he could be adequate in middle relief right away.

Randor Bierd (shoulder) allowed a run in two innings Friday in his first rehab appearance with the Rookie GCL Orioles.
Bierd has been sidelined since the beginning of May. He’ll probably spend at least a couple of weeks in the minors before rejoining Baltimore’s pen.

Randor Bierd will throw two innings for Double-A Bowie Sunday as part of his ongoing rehab assignment.
Bierd is scheduled to make five appearances for the Bowie Baysox, the last one being on July 17. After those, he will be re-evaluated and a roster decision will be made.

Orioles activated RHP Randor Bierd from the 15-day disabled list.
Bierd is back after missing 2 1/2 months with a right shoulder impingement. He’ll try to work his way into a setup role in front of George Sherrill.

Rule-5 pick Randor Bierd pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three Thursday against the Twins.
Bierd has pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings this month after giving up two runs in his first appearance of the spring. It looks like he’s going to win a spot on the Orioles as a middle reliever.

Orioles placed RHP Randor Bierd on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 30, with a right shoulder impingement.
Bierd, who the Orioles got in the Rule 5 draft from the Tigers, is 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA and expects to return in mid-June. He allowed a two-run home run to B.J. Upton on Tuesday, and reported feeling soreness afterwards. An MRI revealed some tendinitis.

Orioles manager Dave Trembley announced Friday night that Randor Bierd has won a spot in the bullpen.
Bierd, a Rule-5 pick from the Tigers, had a 2.38 ERA in 10 appearances this spring. Trembley also announced that Dennis Sarfate, Greg Aquino and Matt Albers will be in the Orioles bullpen.

Orioles sent RHP Randor Bierd, RHP Rocky Cherry, INF Brandon Fahey, OF Jeff Fiorentino and C Omir Santos outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bierd, a Rule 5 pick from the Tigers, got off to a nice start, posting a 2.03 ERA over the first month before going on the DL with a sore shoulder. He didn’t return until after the break, and he had a 6.56 ERA in 23 1/3 innings the rest of the way. We’re still somewhat surprised that he cleared waivers.

Red Sox acquired RHP Randor Bierd from the Orioles in exchange for RHP David Pauley.
Bierd, a Rule 5 draft pick from the Tigers last year, had a promising start to the season before coming down with a sore shoulder. He could emerge as a late-inning reliever down the road if he’s fully recovered.
