Reed Garrett underwent Tommy John surgery and is slated to miss all of 2026.
Garrett had the surgery Wednesday. He posted a 3.90 ERA in 58 appearances this season before landing on the IL in mid-September. The Mets could choose to non-tender him and perhaps try to re-sign him to a two-year minor league deal this winter.

The Athletic’s Tim Britton reports Tylor Megill (elbow) and Reed Garrett (elbow) have been recommended to undergo Tommy John surgery.
It’s a hit to New York’s rotation and middle relief depth for the rest of the immediate campaign and next season as well considering both would likely be out until 2027 recovering from reconstructive surgeries. A final decision on their next steps should come at some point in the near future, but it sounds like both are facing extended absences.

Mets placed RHP Reed Garrett on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow sprain.
The move was retroactive to Monday. Garrett has been fine for the Mets this season, posting a 3.90 ERA and 64/26 K/BB ratio in 55 1/3 innings. There is no word yet on the timeline for his return, but he had previously missed a few weeks with a similar elbow injury in August, so he may be facing an extended absence.

Mets activated RHP Reed Garrett from the 15-day injured list.
Garrett has wrapped up a brief minor league rehab stint and rejoins New York’s bullpen mix for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati. The 32-year-old wound up missing just over two weeks due to elbow inflammation.

Reed Garrett (elbow) will start a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Binghampton on Thursday.
Garrett has been sidelined since August 23 due to inflammation in his pitching elbow. It seems like he has made a quick recovery though and may only require a couple of appearances on his rehab assignment before he’s cleared to rejoin the Mets’ bullpen.

Mets placed RHP Reed Garrett on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 23, with right elbow inflammation.
Garrett missed precisely a month after getting the same diagnosis in July 2024. He has a 3.61 ERA in 52 1/3 innings of relief work this season.

Reed Garrett will open Saturday’s game against the Brewers.
Frankie Montas, who has been lit up for 12 runs over just 8 1/3 innings in his last two starts, will make a bulk relief appearance in this one. It’s probably a smart idea for the Mets considering the Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now.

Reed Garrett allowed one hit and struck out one batter across two innings of work to earn the save on Friday against the Yankees.
The Mets leaned on Garrett to get their final six outs after Edwin Díaz had just saved their last two games. It was a tense couple of innings in a one run game where there had already been seven homers hit by the two teams combined, but Garrett was nails. He’s had a rough month after being one of the most effective relievers in baseball through the first chunk of the season and should continue to be a steady source of holds as Díaz’s primary setup man.

Reed Garrett slams the door on the White Sox on Tuesday, protecting a two-run lead to earn his second save of the season.
The 32-year-old right-hander drew his second save opportunity in the past three days with Edwin Díaz having worked the day in-between. Once again, Garrett came through with flying colors, allowing just a one-out walk to Mike Tauchman. He ultimately struck out Andrew Benintendi on a swinging third strike to end the ballgame. The veteran hurler has been a spectacular weapon out of the Mets’ bullpen this season, compiling a 0.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 26/13 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings.

Reed Garrett closed out the Dodgers on Sunday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run advantage.
Edwin Díaz slammed the door on the Dodgers on Saturday night so it was Garrett’s turn to handle the ninth inning on Sunday evening. He made things somewhat interesting by allowing a one-out single to Max Muncy, but battled back to get Andy Pages to hit into a fielder’s choice and then punched out Michael Conforto to end it. On the season, the 32-year-old right-hander has registered a minuscule 0.86 ERA, 1,24 WHIP and a 22/12 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings to go along with one save. He’s not going to usurp the closer’s role from Díaz, but Garrett has proven to be a capable fill-in when he has been called upon.
