Rangers re-signed RHP Ricardo Rodriguez to a minor league contract.
The deal does not include an invitation to the major league side of spring camp. Rodriguez was non-tendered by the Rangers in November after being limited to just four appearances in 2018 due to right biceps tendinitis. If healthy, the 26-year-old will function as organizational bullpen depth for Texas in 2019. But he’s already expected to miss a chunk of the first half following December shoulder surgery.

Rangers activated RHP Ricardo Rodriguez from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
The Rangers were forced to make the move after Rodriguez’s 30-day rehab window expired. The 25-year-old began the year on the DL with a biceps injury, but he posted a strong 0.82 ERA and 7/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings between Double- and Triple-A during his rehab stint. He could be an option for the Rangers’ bullpen down the road.

Ricardo Rodriguez (biceps) won’t join the Rangers at the completion of his 30-day rehab window on Tuesday.
Rodriguez began the year on the disabled list with a biceps injury, but he’s pitched well on his rehab assignment, posting a 0.82 ERA and 7/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings between Double- and Triple-A. The Rangers have the ability to activate him from the disabled list and keep him in the minors for now. He’s on the 60-day disabled list, so the Rangers will have to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
