Nationals signed INF Richard Ureña to a minor league contract.
Ureña spent the entire 2021 campaign at Triple-A Buffalo in the Blue Jays’ minor-league system, hitting .272/.310/.438 with nine homers and two steals across 350 plate appearances. The 25-year-old infielder holds a .253/.300/.336 triple-slash line across 263 career plate appearances at the big-league level since 2017. He’ll serve as organizational infield depth with the Nationals next season.

Blue Jays optioned Joel Payamps, SS Santiago Espinal, OF Joshua Palacios and C Riley Adams and also reassigned RHP Dany Jimenez, INF Kevin Smith, SS Richard Urena, OF Forrest Wall, 1B Tyler White and LHP Kirby Snead to minor-league camp.
The Blue Jays have 37 players left on their big-league spring training roster. The most notable name on this list would be Payamps, who has shuttled between the Jays and Red Sox numerous times through waivers this offseason.

Blue Jays signed INF Richard Urena to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The Orioles claimed Urena off waivers from the Blue Jays last offseason, but he was released in June before making an appearance for them. The 24-year-old will give Toronto some infield depth.

Baseball America reports that the Orioles have released Richard Urena.
Urena is one of 37 players that were released by the Orioles recently. The infielder was designated for assignment in February and went unclaimed when put on waivers. The 23-year-old has struggled against MLB pitching with a .253/.300/.336 slash over 263 plate appearances.

Dan Connelly of the Athletic reports that Branden Kline and Richard Urena have not been released by the Orioles.
It was reported earlier on Wednesday by Baseball America that both Kline and Urena were among the massive minors cuts by Baltimore, but it appears to be an error. Both players were outrighted off the 40-man rosters in February, but at least for now, they remain a part of the Orioles’ organization.

Orioles infielder Richard Urena cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.
Urena was claimed off waivers by the Orioles from the Blue Jays in January. The Orioles then designated him for assignment last week and he was not claimed by any other team, so the Orioles were able to keep him stashed at Triple-A. The 23-year-old infielder holds a weak .253/.300/.336 career batting line in 263 total plate appearances at the major league level.
