Culiacan’s Rigo Beltran allowed one run and struck out nine in seven innings during yesterday’s Mexican Pacific League action.
Beltran, a 33-year-old left-hander, lost out on a spot in the Baltimore bullpen last season, but he came through with a very good season for Triple-A Ottawa, posting a 2.71 ERA and holding hitters to a .213 average in 13 starts and 18 relief appearances. He might be a solid reliever if given the opportunity.
