Rubby De La Rosa (elbow) is throwing “free and easy” on flat ground from 60 feet, according to MLB.com’s Ken Gurnick.
“Right now I feel more power than I did before, a lot stronger,” said De La Rosa. The 22-year-old right-hander averaged 96 mph on his fastball before undergoing Tommy John surgery in August, so that’s a scary thought for opposing batters. De La Rosa projects to return late in the 2012 season, but he still has plenty of long-term potential.
