Hendrix made the announcement on his Instagram page. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a pedestrian 5.85 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 44/22 K/BB ratio across 40 innings (45 appearances) over the last two seasons for the Reds. He’ll augment the Diamondbacks’ organizational relief depth and has a shot to win a spot this spring on Arizona’s Opening Day roster.

Hendrix was jettisoned from the Reds’ 40-man roster earlier this month and has refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Louisville. The 26-year-old right-hander, who has made 45 relief appearances for the Reds over the last two seasons, will test the free agent waters in search of a new opportunity. He made just nine relief appearances for Cincinnati this season.

Hendrix, 26, only threw 8 1/3 innings in 2022 for Cincinnati, and he gave up five runs while also walking six. He’ll still get a chance to compete for a bullpen spot this spring.

This is the corresponding 26-man roster move for the promotion of right-hander T.J. Zeuch, who will make a spot start for the Reds on Wednesday afternoon in Queens. Hendrix, 27, has surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and six walks across 8 1/3 major league innings this year.

The 27-year-old hurler is taking the place of the injured Hunter Greene (shoulder). He has made seven appearances with the Reds this season, registering a 4.26 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 7/5 K/BB ratio across 6 1/3 innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role.

Hendrix was just brought up to the Reds’ bullpen last weekend and has made seven relief appearances this season in the majors.

Hendrix has made six relief appearances this season for the Reds and will replace Luis Castillo, who was traded to the Mariners on Friday evening, on Cincinnati’s active roster. The 27-year-old righty has recorded a pedestrian 4.91 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 30/16 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings (27 appearances) this season at Triple-A Louisville.

Hendrix made just one relief appearance during his latest stay on the Reds’ active roster. Dauri Moreta has been activated from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move ahead of Friday’s second-half opener.

Hendrix has been called up as a replacement player to join the Reds’ bullpen on Saturday afternoon with righty Dauri Moreta landing on the COVID-19 injured list. The 27-year-old righty has made five unremarkable relief appearances this season at the big-league level.

Hendrix cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization.
