Cubs signed RHP Ryan Jensen to a minor league contract.
Jensen, 27, was released by the Twins after struggling to a 6.59 ERA over 28 2/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul. He’ll return to the Cubs’ organization where he spent his first four minor league seasons from 2019-2022. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth for the Cubs.

    Twins released RHP Ryan Jensen.
Jensen was released after posting an underwhelming 6.59 ERA across 28 2/3 innings (21 appearances) this season for Triple-A St. Paul. The 27-year-old righty has been on the 40-man rosters for the Cubs, Mariners, Marlins and Twins over the past three years, but never made an appearance in the big leagues.
  • MIN Catcher #62
Twins optioned C Diego Cartaya to Triple-A St. Paul; reassigned RHP Ryan Jensen to minor league camp.
Cartaya was shipped to Minnesota back in early January by the Dodgers after his stock tanked last year in the upper minors when he struggled to a pedestrian .686 OPS between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 23-year-old is a reclamation project for the Twins after being a consensus top-25 prospect in the game just two years ago.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #68
Twins reassigned RHPs Randy Dobnak, Ronny Henriquez and Ryan Jensen, LHP Jovani Moran, 1B Aaron Sabato, OF DaShawn Keirsey and Cs Alex Isola and Pat Winkel to minor league camp.
All eight were in Twins camp this spring as non-roster invitees. Of the group, Dobnak and Moran, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, are the most high-profile names. Henriquez and Jensen figure to pitch in relief for Minnesota if they get back to the majors.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #84
Twins sent RHP Ryan Jensen outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
Jensen had been claimed on waivers three times since August, but he slipped through this time. Since this is his first outright assignment, he’ll remain with the Twins and report to camp as a non-roster player. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 5.32 ERA and a 78/54 K/BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A last year.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #84
Twins designated RHP Ryan Jensen for assignment.
Jensen heads back to the waiver wire for the fourth time since last August. The 26-year-old righty has yet to ascend to the majors after spending all of last year in the upper minors.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #84
Twins claimed RHP Ryan Jensen off waivers from the Marlins.
Jensen was claimed off waivers from the Mariners in November and then put back on waivers in December for the third time since August. The 26-year-old was a first-round pick back in 2019 but has yet to pitch in the majors. He had a 5.32 ERA and a 78/54 K/BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings split between Double- and Triple-A last year. The Twins will likely give him a chance to compete for a bullpen spot on Opening Day.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #84
Marlins designated RHP Ryan Jensen for assignment.
Jensen will likely return to the waiver wire for the third time since August. The former Cubs prospect was picked up by the Mariners during the season and by the Marlins last month.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #84
Marlins claimed RHP Ryan Jensen off waivers from the Mariners.
Jensen was a first-round pick of the Cubs back in 2019 and has yet to reach the majors. The 26-year-old righty was claimed off waivers back in August by the Mariners, but got caught up in a roster crunch last week following Seattle’s six-player swap with the Diamondbacks. He’ll presumably have a shot this spring at making Miami’s season-opening bullpen.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #84
Mariners designated RHP Ryan Jensen for assignment.
Seattle needed to clear a spot following today’s one-for-two trade. The 25-year-old Jensen, who was claimed off waivers from the Cubs in August, has yet to pitch in the majors. He had a 5.32 ERA and a 78/54 K/BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings evenly split between Double- and Triple-A last year.
