Yankees acquired LHP Ryan Weathers from the Marlins for OF Dillon Lewis, OF Brendan Jones, 1B Dylan Jasso and SS Juan Matheus.
The trade is now official. Weathers has shown flashes of big-time potential, recording a strong 3.74 ERA — 4.26 FIP — 1.21 WHIP and 117/36 K/BB ratio across 125 innings for the Marlins over the last two seasons. The 26-year-old southpaw has been limited to just 24 starts during that span due to injuries, including forearm and lat issues that cost him nearly five months this past season. He’s an interesting gamble for the Yankees — and a speculative late-round dice roll in fantasy leagues — as a high-upside rotation arm with Gerrit Cole coming off Tommy John surgery and Carlos Rodón working his way back from an offseason elbow procedure. He projects as a high-velocity impact reliever if they decide to move him to the bullpen at some point in the future. Meanwhile, his departure from Miami removes another obstacle from the path of top pitching prospects Thomas White and Robby Snelling.

YES Network’s Jack Curry reports the Yankees are acquiring starter Ryan Weathers from the Marlins for four minor leaguers.
Craig Mish of the Miami Herald adds that outfielders Dillon Lewis and Brendan Jones and infielders Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus are heading to the Marlins in the deal. Marlins agreed to terms with LHP Ryan Weathers on a one-year, $1.35 million contract.
Weathers showed impressive stuff last year, but he was limited to eight starts by forearm and lat injuries, finishing with a 3.99 ERA. He should be pretty much assured a spot in Miami’s rotation, and there’s the chance of some mixed-league value, though the questions about his health are concerning.

Ryan Weathers allowed six hits and five runs with two walks and eight strikeouts across 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.
There was plenty of good and bad from Weathers in this one. Starting with the bad, he gave up three homers – one of them traveling 441 feet off the bat of Bryson Stott – and seven hard hit balls on only 13 total balls in play. He didn’t make many bad pitches though, sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the hitters. With that, Weathers forced 16 swings-and-misses and located his sweeper especially well on the back-foot of this right-handed heavy Phillies lineup. It’s been great to see him get back on the mound to end the season and a normal offseason should help him carry some momentum into 2026.

Ryan Weathers didn’t qualify for a decision after giving up three runs over four innings against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Weathers was outstanding against the Nationals in his return to the mound last week against the Nationals, but this was far from excellent. He surrendered eight hits, walked two and struck out only a pair while facing the lowly Rockies; albeit in Colorado. The 25-year-old will hope to be more like the hurler who held Washington scoreless last Thursday when he faces the Phillies on Tuesday.

Ryan Weathers was brilliant in his return from the injured list on Thursday night, scattering five hits over five innings of scoreless baseball in a victory over the Nationals.
The 25-year-old southpaw punched out four batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He needed just 68 pitches (46 strikes) to navigate his five frames and all five of the hits that he allowed were singles. Weathers got 12 swings and misses on the evening — six of those on his changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. He’ll carry a 2.73 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 27/8 K/BB ratio (29 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Marlins activated LHP Ryan Weathers from the 60-day injured list.
Weathers, who allowed two runs in 7 1/3 innings over two rehab appearances, is back for the Marlins after three months off due to a lat strain. He’ll face the Nationals tonight.

Ryan Weathers (lat) will be activated to start Thursday’s series finale against the Nationals.
Weathers will rejoin Miami’s rotation for his first start since June 7 after missing over three months with a lat strain. The 25-year-old lefty offers enough strikeout upside to matter in fantasy leagues, but the Marlins figure to closely monitor his workload over the final three weeks to keep him healthy heading into next season.

Ryan Weathers (lat) is set to rejoin the Marlins’ starting rotation next week.
Weathers has been sidelined since early June due to a left lat strain. He has finally worked his way back though and should be an asset to the Marlins — and to fantasy managers — over the final month of the season. The expectation is that he’ll start on Wednesday against the Nationals.
