Rosario returns to a 2.13 ERA and 14/1 K/BB ratio in 13 appearances this season at the Triple-A level. Miami had little use for him in the five days he was on the roster, not once summoning him into game action.

Both Rosario and Chris Hatcher will be used as bullpen depth for the Marlins following Friday’s extra-inning game with the Padres. Rosario has a 2.13 ERA and 14/1 K/BB ratio in 15 appearances with New Orleans this season. Look for Miami to option Daniel Jennings and Bryan Petersen in a corresponding move.

If true, he’ll replace left-hander Dan Jennings on the active roster. Rosario had a brief stint with the Marlins last month, but didn’t make an appearance. The 26-year-old right-hander has a fantastic 1.04 ERA and 24/2 K/BB ratio over 26 innings at the Triple-A level this year.

Rosario allowed three runs on four hits over an inning of work before exiting. The severity of the injury isn’t yet known.

Rosario was acquired from the Red Sox on Wednesday, but was released to clear room on the 40-man roster. He shouldn’t have a problem finding a team willing to give him a shot at a bullpen job.

Rosario never actually threw a pitch while property of the Red Sox, as he was claimed off waivers from the Marlins following the season. The 27-year-old right-hander made four appearances in the majors in 2012 and posted a 1.99 ERA and 24/2 K/BB ratio at the Triple-A level. The A’s have added him to their 40-man roster.
