Rays acquired RHP Santiago Suárez and RHP Marcus Johnson from the Marlins for IF Xavier Edwards and RHP JT Chargois.
Suarez is an extremely raw but talented 17-year-old right-hander out of Venezuela. He posted a stellar 2.31 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 38/6 K/BB ratio over 39 innings for the Marlins club in the Dominican Summer League in 2022. He’s a long ways away from helping the Rays at the big league level, but they like what they see here.
