Scott Sizemore went 0-for-4 and committed his 16th error in Wednesday’s loss to the Angels.
He has 13 errors in 80 games at third base for the A’s. Now, he’s still learning the position after spending most of his career at second, but that’s still too many. He’s been a solid hitter, and since he’s making the minimum, the A’s certainly have to be considering going forward with him as a 2012 regular. Still, upgrading at third base this winter can’t be ruled out.

Scott Sizemore suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the entire 2012 season.
Brutal news for Sizemore, who played well after being acquired from the Tigers last season and was set to serve as the A’s starting third baseman in 2012. The 27-year-old will be reevaluated in two weeks before a date is set for surgery. Scott Sizemore (knee) was cleared to begin jogging in two weeks and sprinting in a month after a visit with Dr. Doug Freedberg Friday.
Dr. Freedberg is who performed Sizemore’s ACL surgery back in March. Sizemore will be allowed to resume hitting shortly after the sprinting if it goes well. The 27-year-old will miss all of the 2012 season but should be 100 percent for spring training next year. “I’m starting to feel like an athlete again,” Sizemore said.
