Reds LHP prospect Seth Varner stretched his scoreless streak to 19 innings Sunday in a seven-inning effort for High-A Daytona.
He retired the first 20 batters he faced while racking up a season-high 10 strikeouts. Opponents have hit a mere .233 against Varner since his call-up from Low-A Dayton earlier this year. He’s struck out 57 hitters in 60 2/3 innings over that span. Cincinnati drafted Varner in the 10th round out of Miami (OH) University in 2014.
