Walker

Walker was acquired from the Giants last November via trade and wound up suffering a fractured right hand during spring training when he was hit by a pitch. The 26-year-old outfielder, who got into five games last year for the Rangers, posted a lackluster .605 OPS across 28 games this season in Detroit’s system. There should be some interest in the former second-round pick on the open market.

Walker’s bid for a bench spot as a non-roster player is over before it really began. The 26-year-old, who made his major league debut last year and went 1-for-14 for the Rangers, will likely have a spot in Triple-A Toledo’s outfield once healthy.

The Tigers new regime has been very active on Tuesday, picking up a nice depth outfielder from the Giants for nothing more than cash. Walker spent most of the 2022 season at Triple-A, slashing .268/.333/.421 with nine homers, 40 RBI and eight stolen bases in 75 games between the Giants and Rangers.

Walker had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. He’ll continue to function as extra outfield depth for the Giants at Triple-A. Walker is just 1-for-14 (.071) with a homer in his limited time at the big league level this season.

Walker was just claimed off waivers from the Rangers on August 7, but now he gets the boot to open up a 40-man roster spot for Andrew Vasquez. Walker, 26, has appeared in only five career MLB games.

The Giants added Walker after he was waived by the Rangers. He was immediately optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Walker was having a decent season in the minors, hitting .277/.353/.435 with seven homers and six steals across 215 plate appearances.

Walker is designated for assignment to clear room for Bubba Thompson. The outfielder has one hit in 14 at-bats in his limited time with the Rangers. If unclaimed, he’ll report back to Triple-A Round Rock or elect free agency.

Walker was placed on the COVID-19 list on June 11, but the Rangers outfield is full and the 25-year-old will get everyday playing time with the Express.

Walker joins Mitch Garver and Glenn Otto on the COVID-19 injured list as the virus continues to take a toll on the Rangers’ depth. The 25-year-old prospect has appeared in five games since being called up back on June 5.

Welcome to the big leagues, rookie. Walker exploded for an astronomical .297/.395/.487 batting line with three homers and two steals in just 86 plate appearances this season at Triple-A Round Rock, but might take some time to adjust to facing big-league arms on a regular basis. The 25-year-old outfielder possesses a ton of talent and is worth monitoring for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.
