Stephen King homered in a third straight game for the Rookie GCL Nationals on Tuesday.

King couldn’t handle full-season ball as a 19-year-old, hitting .180/.261/.258 in 128 at-bats, but the 2006 third-round pick has seven extra-base hits in 28 at-bats since being assigned to the GCL. The Nationals view him as one of the their top position prospects.

Stephen King hit his first two homers Saturday for Single-A Potomach.

King, a 2006 third-round pick, made the move from shortstop to third base last season, but he still hits like a shortstop. He finished at .284/.336/.406 at low Single-A Hagerstown last season, and he’s off to a .236/.323/.418 start this year. He’s a long shot to have a career in the majors.
