Bohn

Bohn, 26, will be making his major league debut after hitting .275/.339/.406 with 14 steals for Tacoma. That he can handle center field could help him have a career as a fifth outfielder, but he shouldn’t be more than that. He’s unlikely to help in AL-only leagues with the Mariners set to keep giving Ichiro Suzuki time in center.

Bohn went 1-for-7 in five days with the Mariners. He’ll be back to act as a reserve outfielder next month.

The move makes room for Brandon Jones on the 40-man roster. Bohn, claimed from the Mariners in November, hit .249/.352/.345 while spending most of the season in Triple-A. He’s 27 now, and he’s highly unlikely to have a future as a reserve.

Bohn might be of some use this week as a pinch-runner, but he shouldn’t have any future in Philadelphia. The 27-year-old hit .249/.352/.345 for Triple-A Richmond this year.

Sending Bohn down makes room for Shane Victorino, who returned from the disabled list Tuesday.

Bohn was called up to fill in for Shane Victorino earlier in the year and didn’t hit well, so there’s no reason to expect anything different this time around.

With Jayson Werth sidelined, it’s possible that Snelling could rejoin the Phillies next week. Still, he’d be little more than a pinch-hitter. If he is activated, he’d surely replace T.J. Bohn.

The 28-year-old Bohn was previously in the majors briefly with the Mariners in 2006. He gets the call despite hitting just .186/.255/.209 in 43 at-bats for the IronPigs. Yes, that’s exactly how little depth the Phillies have assembled at the Triple-A level.

Bohn has gone 2-for-5 with three RBI in his two stints with the Phillies this season.

The 28-year-old Bohn hit just .215/.280/.326 in Triple-A this year, which should just about end his chances of having a career as a reserve outfielder. He’ll become a minor league free agent.
