Terry Evans went 4-for-4 with a triple and a steal Wednesday for Double-A Arkansas.
Evans, 24, has remained very productive since being acquired from the Cardinals for Jeff Weaver, batting .323/.387/.606 with 10 steals in 155 at-bats. The Angels might decide to give him a look after Arkansas’ season ends, though they also have Reggie Willits and Tommy Murphy to examine.
  • PHI Outfield
Angels acquired outfielder Terry Evans from the Cardinals for RHP Jeff Weaver and cash considerations.
If there was much interest in Weaver, the Angels would have done better. Evans, 24, has been a very pleasant surprise five years after being drafted in the 47th round, but he’s not going to help the Angels this year and he might not make it to the majors at all. Between A ball and Double-A, he’s hit .310/.372/.572 in 313 at-bats this season.
  • PHI Outfield
Angels optioned outfielder Terry Evans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Some reward for his homer Wednesday. The Angels should have dropped Nathan Haynes instead, but even though he has no place in they’re plans, they’re afraid of losing him on waivers.
  • PHI Outfield
Terry Evans hit his first major league homer Wednesday off the Astros’ Wandy Rodriguez.
It was a two-run shot. Evans also walked and came around to score. He might see fairly significant playing time at DH while Garret Anderson is out, giving him value in AL-only leagues.

Angels recalled outfielder Terry Evans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Evans is another option in center field with Gary Matthews Jr. down, but he’s going to play behind Reggie Willits.

Angels recalled outfielder Terry Evans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Evans, who was picked up from the Cardinals for Jeff Weaver last year, will be making his major league debut after hitting .327/.352/.556 with 10 homers and 13 steals for Salt Lake. He has some fantasy upside if he gets a few starts per week at DH. Still, his eagerness to chase bad pitches could make it difficult for him to amass a decent OBP.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher
Angels optioned RHP Anthony Ortega, OF Terry Evans and INF Freddy Sandoval to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Ortega very likely would have had a spot in the injury-stricken Angels rotation if healthy, but he’s been limited to one inning by arm problems this spring.

Angels optioned outfielder Terry Evans to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Called up earlier this week for a little outfield depth, Evans knew his stay in the bigs wouldn’t be long. He didn’t have a single at-bat.

Angels recalled outfielder Terry Evans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Without need for a fifth starter over the next two weeks, the Angels called up Evans as an extra bench bat and insurance for a decimated outfield -- Torii Hunter and Vladimir Guerrero are on the DL and Juan Rivera has a sore hamstring. Evans was raking at Salt Lake, hitting .290 with 19 homers and 66 RBIs in 93 games. Evans was 1-for-11 with a homer in a very brief stint with the Angels two years ago. That is the extent of his major league service to this point.

Angels recalled outfielder Terry Evans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Evans was called up to the big leagues in late July, and wasn’t given a single at-bat. He hit .291 with 26 homers and 90 RBI this season at Salt Lake, but will once again struggle for playing time in the Angels’ crowded outfield.
