The Rangers are expected to sign Nick Pratto, says MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo.
This will surely be a minor league deal. Pratto once looked like the Royals’ first baseman of the future, but he was largely ineffective in 527 plate appearances between 2022 and ’23 (.216/.295/.364) and things went from bad to worse the last two years, as he finished with Triple-A OPSs of .734 in 2024 and .620 in 2025.

Rangers re-signed RHP Cal Quantrill to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Re-signed might come as a surprise to most, but the Rangers inked Quantrill to a minor league deal last September. They never did call him up afterwards, leaving him with a hideous 6.04 ERA in 117 2/3 innings with the Marlins and Braves. Like Patrick Corbin a year ago, he rates as adequate rotation depth, though he probably has even less of a ceiling.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #76
Rangers signed LHP Austin Gomber to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 32-year-old southpaw made 12 starts for the Rockies in 2025, compiling a cringe-inducing 7.49 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and a 34/17 K/BB ratio across 57 2/3 innings. He’ll add organizational pitching depth for the Rangers and should continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Rangers signed RHP Austin Robert to a minor league contract.
Roberts forged a 4.21 ERA in the minors with the Brewers and Marlins; with the latter acquring the right-hander in an August trade. He’ll provide org depth, and need to be added to the 40-man roster to pitch for Texas.

Rangers acquired LHP MacKenzie Gore from the Nationals for INF Gavin Fien, INF Devin Fitz-Gerald, RHP Alejandro Rosario, 1B Abimelec Ortiz and OF Yeremy Cabrera.
Gore’s career 4.19 ERA went mostly unchanged last season, but he did seem to take a step forward with his 27.2% strikeout rate while being held back by one of the game’s worst defenses and, in particular, one of its worst catching situations. Things will get quite a bit better in Texas, which offers the additional perk of boasting one of the game’s toughest ballparks for right-handed hitters to homer in the last two years. If it holds up — and it may not, as Globe Life Field really has been all over the map since opening in 2020 — it’s a particularly good match for a flyball lefty in Gore. He’ll join Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi atop the Rangers rotation, with Jack Leiter as the heavy favorite for the fourth spot and likely Jacob Latz and Kumar Rocker competing for the fifth spot. The Rangers will pay him $5.8 million this year, and he’ll also be under control for 2027 before becoming a free agent.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #1
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Rangers have a deal in place to acquire left-hander MacKenzie Gore from the Nationals.
The Nationals are set to receive a package of five prospects in return: infielders Gavin Fien and Devin Fitz-Gerald, outfielder Yeremy Cabrera, first baseman Abimelec Ortiz and right-hander Alejandro Rosario. It’s a tremendous get for the Rangers as Gore will bolster the top of their rotation with a strong left-handed arm that they were solely lacking. The 26-year-old southpaw registered a 4.17 ERA and an 185/64 K/BB ratio across 159 2/3 innings with the Nationals in 2025. He’s under team control through the 2027 season.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #16
Rangers signed RHP Jakob Junis to a one-year, $4 million contract.
Junis passed his physical after agreeing to terms on Sunday. The 33-year-old finished with ERAs of 2.69 for the Brewers and Reds in 2024 and 2.97 for the Guardians last season, even though his velocity and strikeout rates have both dropped. It would have been interesting to see him as a full-time starter a few years back, but middle relief is where he belongs now.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #52
Rangers designate RHP Dom Hamel for assignment.
Hamel, 26, was claimed on waivers from the Orioles on the next-to-last day of the 2025 season. The former Mets prospect had a 5.32 ERA in 11 starts and 20 relief appearances for Triple-A Syracuse last season.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #66
Rangers re-signed RHP Josh Sborz to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Sborz, 32, excelled for the Rangers during the World Series run in 2023, but he’s largely been a non-factor since because of shoulder problems. He spent all of last season on the major league IL and was shut down in September after a 5.25 ERA in 12 minor league rehab appearances. He was non-tendered in November, but now he’ll have a chance to compete for a bullpen spot if healthy.
  • FA Left Fielder #38
MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that Miguel Andujar is drawing “significant interest” on the free agent market.
Andujar had a strong season, split between playing for the Athletics and Reds. He hit .318/.352/.470 with 10 home runs in 94 games due to injury. Now, he was playing in arguably the two most hitter-friendly stadiums in baseball, but he also showed flashes of success in 2024 with Oakland. Heyman has said teams like the Rangers, Padres, Cardinals, and Cubs have expressed interest.
