Phillies re-signed LHP Tim Mayza to a minor league contract.
Mayza missed much of last season with a lat strain, posting a 2.89 ERA in 9 1/3 innings for the Pirates before the injury and a 4.91 ERA in 7 1/3 innings for the Phillies after being picked up for the stretch run. The 34-year-old lefty has a career 3.87 ERA in 382 relief appearances. He figures to have a difficult time making the Phillies out of spring training.

Phillies claimed LHP Tim Mayza off waivers from the Pirates.
Mayza has been scooped up off release waivers after being jettisoned earlier this weekend by the Pirates. The 33-year-old southpaw will be eligible for the postseason with his new club. The 33-year-old lefty made seven appearances for Pittsburgh before hitting the injured list back in mid-April with a left lat strain that has kept him sidelined ever since.

    Pirates released LHP Tim Mayza.
Mayza was officially cut loose earlier this weekend after making just seven appearances for the Pirates this season. The 33-year-old southpaw reliever has been on the shelf since mid-April recovering from a left lat strain. If he’s healthy, there’s a strong possibility he latches on somewhere else as additional left-handed middle relief depth.

Pirates transferred LHP Tim Mayza to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 33-year-old southpaw — who will be shut down from throwing for at least the next six weeks — this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Matt Gorski who was promoted from Triple-A on Thursday.

Tim Mayza (lat) will be shut down from throwing for six weeks.
Mayza hit the injured list over the weekend with a left lat strain and won’t resume throwing until the end of May. He’s likely out until the early portion of the second half.

Pirates placed LHP Tim Mayza on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain.
Mayza heads to the injured list with former closer David Bednar to return to the big leagues. He’s posted a solid 2.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 8/1 K/BB ratio across 9 1/3 innings (seven appearances). He should be back in a couple weeks.

Pirates signed LHP Tim Mayza to a one-year, $1.15 million contract.
The deal is now official. Mayza supplements Pittsburgh’s left-handed relief depth after splitting last year between the Blue Jays and Yankees. The 33-year-old southpaw was a mainstay in Toronto’s bullpen for the previous few seasons before struggling last year to the point that he was released in early July.

MLB.com’s Alex Stumpf reports the Pirates are signing Tim Mayza to a one-year, $1.15 million contract.
Mayza is heading to Pittsburgh, pending a physical, as extra left-handed relief depth after being non-tendered earlier this offseason by the Yankees. The 33-year-old southpaw was a key component of Toronto’s bullpen for multiple years prior to last season’s unexpected collapse when he struggled to a calamitous 8.03 ERA over 35 appearances before being cut loose and heading to New York where he finished with a respectable 4.00 ERA over 15 appearances.

    Yankees non-tendered LHP Tim Mayza.
The 32-year-old hurler had a very rough season overall in 2024, but he was considerably better during his time with the Yankees — posting a 4.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 12/3 K/BB ratio over 18 innings of work. The Yankees didn’t believe that was enough to justify a raise to $4 million though, which is what he was projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn through arbitration. Mayza is now free to peddle his wares on the open market.

Yankees selected the contract of LHP Tim Mayza.
Mayza was signed to a minor league deal earlier this season after he was cut by the Blue Jays. Mayza struggled mightily with the Jays this season as he allowed 22 earned runs in 24 2/3 innings, but has been a solid pitcher over the course of his career. He figures to pitch middle relief in New York.
