Tom Koehler has announced his retirement.
Koehler was in camp with the Pirates trying to make his way back from shoulder surgery, but he’s decided to call it a career. The 33-year-old will walk away with a 4.39 ERA over 161 appearances (133 starts) in the majors between the Marlins and Blue Jays.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
The Pirates have activated right-hander Tom Koehler (shoulder) from the minor league injured list and assigned him to Double-A Altoona.
Koehler underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last July, but he inked a minor league deal with Pittsburgh in February which includes a $1.25 million club option for 2020. The 33-year-old allowed four runs over 3 2/3 innings in rehab appearances between rookie ball and Low-A ball.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Pirates signed RHP Tom Koehler to a minor league contract with a $1.25 million club option for 2020.
Koehler had shoulder surgery in July and isn’t expected to be ready until the second half of this year, if he’s able to contribute at all. As a result, he’s not getting an invitation to big-league camp here. Koehler is 36-55 with a 4.39 ERA in 133 starts and 28 relief appearances as a major leaguer. The Dodgers signed him a year ago with the intention of using him as a reliever, but he missed the entire season.

    Dodgers released RHP Tom Koehler.
Koehler missed all of the 2018 season with shoulder issues, eventually having surgery in July. It’s unclear when he’ll be game-ready.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Dodgers activated RHP Tom Koehler from the 60-day disabled list.
Koehler had shoulder surgery in July and it’s unclear how long his rehab will take. He’s arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter but is a non-tender candidate.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Tom Koehler from Triple-A New Orleans.
Koehler followed up a breakout 2010 season at Double-A with a dud of a year at Triple-A, as he held a 4.97 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 116/79 K/BB ratio over 150 1/3 innings. The Marlins think he can be a solid back-end of the rotation starter at some point, so they’ve added him to the roster in order to be protected from the Rule 5 draft.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Marlins recalled RHP Tom Koehler from Triple-A New Orleans.
Koehler has posted a 4.17 ERA with 138 strikeouts over 151 Triple-A innings this season. He’ll be used in long relief initially, but it’s possible the Marlins could give him a start later this month.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Tom Koehler will start Wednesday against the Mets.
Previously scheduled starter Mark Buehrle has been shut down. Koehler posted a 4.17 ERA with 138 strikeouts over 151 Triple-A innings this season and can be ignored for streaming purposes.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #49
Wade LeBlanc has been bumped from the Marlins’ starting rotation, with Tom Koehler starting in his place on Sunday
It’s not surprising to see LeBlanc moved back to the bullpen, as he’s been one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball this season. Through his seven starts, LeBlanc posted a 6.11 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 25/12 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings. He no longer holds any fantasy value.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #96
Tom Koehler has replaced Wade LeBlanc in the Marlins rotation and will make his first start of the season on Sunday against the Dodgers.
Koehler has done a nice job in the Marlins bullpen this season, posting a 3.18 ERA, 0.97 WHP and 9/6 K/BB ratio through his first 11 1/3 innings. He also compiled a 1.06 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14/10 K/BB ratio through three starts at the Triple-A level before he was recalled. He’s unlikely to be an impact fantasy addition, but shouldn’t have any difficulty outproducing LeBlanc.
