Single-A Jupiter’s Trevor Hutchinson struck out eight in seven scoreless innings on Wednesday.
Hutchinson, who missed 2005 following rotator cuff surgery, is 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA, 45 H and 33/9 K/BB in 42 2/3 IP in the FSL. He seems ready to return to Double-A, which is where he spent 2004 before getting hurt.

Trevor Hutchinson will likely miss the season after having rotator-cuff surgery this week.
Hutchinson, one of the team’s better pitching prospects, might have been a candidate to pitch in middle relief later this season.

Trevor Hutchinson and Kevin Cave combined for a seven-inning no-hitter Wednesday for Double-A Carolina.
Hutchinson is one of Florida’s top prospects and could get a look in September.

Marlins invited pitchers Trevor Hutchinson, Toby Borland, Bryce Florie, David Manning, Marty McLeary, Mike Nannini, Scott Sanders, Delvin James, Aaron Small, Matt Perisho and Cedrick Bowers to spring training.
Also invited were catchers Ryan Jorgensen, Matt Treanor and Dennis Anderson; infielders Damion Easley, Lenny Harris, Felipe Crespo, Derek Wathan and Jason Wood; and outfielders Gerald Williams, Eric Reed and Ryan Christenson. The players here with the best chances of making the Marlins are probably Harris, Easley, Christenson and Williams. The pitchers are all longshots, although Hutchinson could be in the team’s rotation before the end of the year.
