Mariners signed RHP Trevor Kelley to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Kelley will be in Mariners camp this spring fighting for a spot in the club’s season-opening bullpen. The 30-year-old righty was removed from Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster at the end of last September after making 10 appearances for the Rays. He’ll likely end up at Triple-A Tacoma as emergency relief depth.

Rays sent RHP Trevor Kelley outright to Triple-A Durham.
Kelley went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday. The 30-year-old righty has made 10 appearances (three starts) this season for Tampa Bay and will presumably stick around as emergency relief depth for the postseason.

Rays designated RHP Trevor Kelley for assignment.
The move clears the way for Junior Caminero on the 40-man roster. Kelley, 30, has put up a rough 5.87 ERA in 10 appearances (including three starts) with the Rays this season.

Rays optioned RHP Trevor Kelley to Triple-A Durham.
Jalen Beeks will replace him in the Rays’ bullpen. Kelley was called up on Thursday and allowed four runs in two innings in his lone appearance on Friday.

Rays recalled RHP Trevor Kelley from Triple-A Durham.
With Tampa Bay set to have a bullpen game today, they wanted a fresh arm to help them get through it. The right-hander has a 4.05 ERA and eight strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings for Tampa Bay this season while serving as a bullpen option and opener. He will take Jacob Lopez’s spot on the active roster.
  • TB Starting Pitcher
Rays optioned LHP Jacob Lopez to Triple-A Durham.

Lopez get the short end of the roster construction stick on Thursday. The 25-year-old threw three scoreless innings of relief on Wednesday against the Rockies, and the Rays were in need of a fresh arm in the bullpen with them piecing together today’s game without a traditional starter. Lopez has a 1.29 ERA in seven innings with the Rays this season and will likely get another chance in the bullpen in a short while. He was replaced on the active roster by Trevor Kelley.

Rays optioned RHP Trevor Kelley to Triple-A Durham.
Kelley functioned as the opener in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox, but with Robert Stephenson joining the active roster for the nightcap something had to give. He should get another opportunity with the Rays before the summer is through.

Trevor Kelley will function as an opener for the Rays in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Tyler Glasnow -- who had been scheduled to start on Friday before the rain washed that one away -- will start in the nightcap on Saturday. The 30-year-old right-hander has made eight appearances (two as an opener) for the Rays already this season -- posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 6/4 K/BB ratio over 11 innings. Don’t expect him to work more than an inning or two on Saturday.

Rays recalled RHP Trevor Kelley from Triple-A Durham.
Kelley has been brought back from the minors in the wake of Pete Fairbanks’ hip injury. The 30-year-old righty has allowed six runs on nine hits with a 5/3 K/BB ratio across 10 innings (six appearances, two starts) this season in the majors.

Kelley was optioned back to the minors to enable the Rays to bring up a more rested reliever. The 30-year-old has a 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 5/3 K/BB ratio over six appearances in the majors this year.
