Contract talks between the White Sox and Japanese second baseman Tadahito Iguchi have reportedly hit a snag.
The White Sox have offered Iguchi about $4 million over two years. Iguchi wants closer to approx. $2.3 million he made in Japan last season. He’s probably worth it.

The White Sox are close to signing Japanese second baseman Tadahito Iguchi, the New York Post reports.
Iguchi likely would be a significant upgrade over Willie Harris for the White Sox. His 20 HR-20 SB ability would make him a very intriguing fantasy second baseman if he does sign.

Willie Harris said he will report to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday to begin a rehab assignment.
Harris, on the DL with a separated shoulder, should return on White Sox on Friday. However, unless Joe Borchard struggles over the next week, Harris probably won’t go back to being the team’s center fielder.

Willie Harris was supposed to report to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a rehab assignment today, but that has been put on hold.
Harris hasn’t recovered from his separated right shoulder. ''It’s still sore, so (trainer) Herm (Schneider) said we’ll shut it down,’' Harris said. ''I’ve got a couple more days (on the disabled list) anyway, so hopefully, it’ll be all right.’'

Kyodo News is reporting that Tadahito Iguchi will sign a two-year deal with the White Sox.
Iguchi will earn $2.3 million per season plus incentives, according to the report. He won’t necessarily be handed the starting job at second base over Willie Harris, but he does figure to be an upgrade for the White Sox.

Although Willie Harris isn’t even available to pinch-run right now, the White Sox don’t plan to place him on the disabled list.
Harris suffered a badly bruised shoulder during Friday’s game. You’ll probably want to bench him for this week.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen is leaning toward using Juan Uribe as the platoonmate for Willie Harris, not Jose Valentin.
Uribe is definitely going to start against left-handers. Whether he does so at second or shortstop is something that could change during the season. Harris is hitting just .190 this spring, so he’s not helping himself.

It’s looking as if Willie Harris will be the odd man out in the Chicago infield.
Jose Valentin will be activated off the disabled list tomorrow and manager Ozzie Guillen is sticking with him as his starting shortstop for now. With Juan Uribe playing very well at the moment, Harris will have to take a seat on the bench until Guillen gets fed up with Valentin’s defense (or his propensity to strikeout) or Uribe cools down.

The White Sox are making no secrets about the fact Willie Harris needs to do a better job as the leadoff hitter.
''It’s not too early (to worry). Willie needs to pick it up,’' GM Kenny Williams said. ''It’s not a news flash. He knows it. He’s been told that.’' Harris upped his on-base percentage to .290 yesterday by going 3-for-4, but that’s not getting the job done. All the big guys behind him need someone to drive in.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen plans to bat Joe Crede eighth and Willie Harris ninth this season.
That sounds right. Actually, upgrading at second base sounds right, but if they’re going to keep playing Harris, he’ll do less damage batting ninth.
