Padres signed RHP Wilmer Font to a minor league contract.
Font is back in MLB-affiliated ball for the 2023 campaign after two solid seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization. The 32-year-old right-hander registered a 2.69 ERA and 170/34 K/BB ratio across 184 innings (28 starts) with the SSG Landers of the KBO in 2022. He’ll probably be ticketed for the Padres’ Triple-A rotation out of camp this spring.

Daniel Kim of MBC Sports reports that Wilmer Font has re-signed with the SSG Landers of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Font will earn a guaranteed $1.1 million, with an additional $200,000 available in incentives. He posted a 3.46 ERA over 25 starts for the Landers in 2021.

Wilmer Font has signed a one-year contract with SK Wyverns of the Korean Baseball Organization.
The 30-year-old was a staple in the Blue Jays bullpen in 2020, appearing in 21 of the team’s 60 games. Of course, he posted a 9.92 ERA and 2.26 WHIP in those 21 appearances, which is likely why he had to settle for going overseas. He’ll try to resurrect his career in the KBO in hopes of garnering a longer contract, whether in MLB or elsewhere, next offseason.

ESPN KBO insider Daniel Kim reports that Wilmer Font is close to signing a contract with the SK Wyverns of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Font, 30, has had some sporadic success in the majors, but he’s lacked consistency and struggled with the Blue Jays in 2020 before being designated for assignment shortly before the end of the regular season. It’s not a surprise that he’s decided to head overseas.

Blue Jays designated RHP Wilmer Font for assignment.
Font gets the heave-ho from the roster to make room for Nate Pearson, who came off the injured list on Thursday. The right-hander has been awful in the majors in 2020 with a 9.92 ERA in 21 games. He’s shown flashes in the minors, but it’s unlikely Font sees a significant market in the 2021 offseason.

Blue Jays activated RHP Wilmer Font from the 10-day injured list.
Font has been on the 10-day injured list since September 7 with a right shin contusion. He has not pitched well this year with 13 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings of relief, and likely will only be used in low-leverage situations as the Blue Jays look to lock up a playoff berth.

Font landed on the injured list earlier this week with a bruised shin. It sounds like he’ll have a good shot to be ready when his 10 days are up.

Font was placed on the IL back on July 15 for undisclosed reasons. The 30-year-old right-hander will presumably operate as a long reliever or mop-up man during his time with the Blue Jays.
