Pirates RHP prospect Yeudy Garcia spanned six shutout innings Tuesday in a win for High-A Bradenton.
He scattered two hits and three walks while matching a season-high with six strikeouts. 49 of the right-hander’s 83 pitches went for strikes. Garcia had been winless in his previous eight starts despite a respectable 3.62 ERA over 32 1/3 innings. Jupiter’s first hit Tuesday didn’t come until the sixth inning. The 23-year-old made a concerted effort to throw more changeups and sliders and the result was his best outing of 2016. Look for him to stick with that approach moving forward.
