Rangers acquired RHP Yohanse Morel from the Rangers in exchange for RHP Albert Abreu.
Morel had been in the Kansas City system since 2018 after he came over to the Royals in the deal for Kelvin Herrera from the Nationals. The hard-throwing right-hander had an ERA above 6.00 in the last two seasons, but has pitched decently with 4.08 ERA for High-A Quad Cities over 10 appearances and 17 2/3 innings. It’s very unlikely he’s more than organizational depth, but the Rangers will see if they can unlock more.

Royals acquired RHP Yohanse Morel, 3B Kelvin Gutierrez and OF Blake Perkins from the Royals for RHP Kelvin Herrera.
Morel, 17, is a hard-throwing right-hander from the Dominican Republic. He appeared in one game for the Nationals’ Dominican Summer League team this year, giving up three runs on six his over 3 1/3 innings, striking out five in the process. He’s talented, but very raw and several years away from potentially contributing at the big league level.
