Yordany De Los Santos hit a two-run homer in a 4-1 win for the Pirates over the Rays on Monday.
That’s the first spring homer for De Los Santos. The 21-year-old is coming off a season where he stole 51 bases while hitting 11 homers in the minors, but it came with an OPS of just .695. Still, De Los Santos power/speed potential makes him a prospect worth keeping an eye on for the coming years.
  • Pirates signed Dominican SS Yordany De Los Santos.
De Los Santos, the 12th-ranked international prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, will receive a $1.2 million signing bonus. Pirates director of international scouting Junior Vizcaino recently described the 16-year-old infielder as an “athletic, physical shortstop with the tools to be a plus defender and hit in the middle of the lineup.” He’s a long way from the majors, but is worth monitoring for fantasy managers in keeper and dynasty league formats.
