Stewart had allowed only five home runs in 46 2/3 innings coming into this evening. The dismal night balloons his ERA to 5.88 and WHIP to 1.60. He’s now allowed 14 runs in just nine innings over his past two starts. It’s unclear if he’ll start Chicago’s season finale against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

A big blemish in an otherwise decent spring for the young right-hander. Hopefully Stewart’s next long relief appearance will be measured by innings, not by pitches.

He struck out one. Stewart is expected to begin the season in a long relief role but will likely be the first to earn starts in the event of an injury or if Chris Sale’s move to the rotation doesn’t go well. He has a 3.72 ERA this spring.

Stewart was annihilated in his Red Sox debut on Wednesday night against the Angels, allowing nine runs on 10 hits over just three innings. The Red Sox would have no real reason to give him another shot this year.

Stewart will make a spot start Wednesday night against the Angels. He’ll likely be sent back down afterward.

That’s going to leave a mark. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, however, seeing as Stewart was the owner of a 5.92 ERA through 97 1/3 career innings coming into this evening. It’s doubtful another start is in the works for the 25-year-old righty.

Stewart was acquired from the White Sox in June as part of the Kevin Youkilis deal. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.94 ERA and 42/12 K/BB ratio in 59 1/3 innings over 11 starts with the PawSox. He has stumbled in his previous stints in the majors, so we’re not particularly optimistic, but could have some value in AL-only leagues down the stretch.

He served up four homers and has now allowed a whopping 10 over just 30 innings this season. Stewart now holds a 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP for the season and should be headed back to a long relief role after the spot start.
