Cooper Webb finished second in Moto 1 and won the second moto of the World Supercross (WSX) season opener at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and was declared the winner when the finale was shortened by a thunderstorm. Webb was leading the Main Event when it was called for weather.
Webb raced as a wildcard entrant in the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, but he will race fulltime in 2026.
“It was sick, honestly it was beautiful to get in the win,” Webb said in a news release. “It was pretty gnarly and as we see, the weather’s coming in, so we had a red flag, unfortunately, but I was really feeling good.”
With a pair of third-place finishes, Dean Wilson finished second overall.
Webb’s Rick Ware Racing teammate Justin Hill won the first moto, but a fifth-place finish in the second moto caused him to lose the runner-up position via the tiebreaking procedure of the best finish in the final race.
“I’ve been milking my comeback story since December of last year and I feel like I’m in a really good way with the decisions I’m making,” Hill said. “I’m in a really good way with the team, with everybody I’m working with.”
Vince Friese finished just off the box in fourth with results of fourth and sixth. He was riding the electric-powered Stark dirt bike. He was scored fourth overall.
Jason Anderson saw his championship defense challenged by a crash in the first moto and ninth-place finish in Moto 2. He earned only two points during the evening.
