On the eve of the 15-year anniversary of when he lost both his legs in Germany in a CART race, Alex Zanardi just added the latest chapter to his post-accident inspirational life story.

He repeated his win of four years ago in London as the Paralympic gold medalist in the hand-cycling time trial on Wednesday, with a time of 28 minutes, 36.81 seconds over the 20km course in Rio.

He’ll try another repeat attempt on Thursday in the Paralympic road race event.

Zanardi is 49 and will turn 50 in October, but he continues to amaze.
