HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Hendrick Motorsports will continue to supply engines to Chip Ganassi Racing after both companies extended their deal.

Car owner Rick Hendrick confirmed that the agreement is only for engines and not chassis or technical support.

“They haven’t really asked us for anything else,’’ Hendrick said of Chip Ganassi Racing. “We do work together when asked on certain things. We may work closer down the road. It’s a good a relationship.’’

Hendrick Motorsports supplied Stewart-Haas Racing with engines, chassis and technical support but Stewart-Haas Racing will switch to Ford next year.

Hendrick officials have stated that losing the four-car team as a customer does not require them to fill that void with another organization, suggesting that they’ll be able to do more development work for Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing switched from Earnhardt Childress Racing engines to Hendrick Motorsports engines in 2013.

Since the change, Ganssi has scored two wins, including a victory by Kyle Larson this season. Larson and teammate Jamie McMurray both made the Chase this season, the first time Ganassi has placed both cars in NASCAR’s playoffs.
