Today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Arizona: Start time, TV info and more


AVONDALE, Ariz. — The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will play host Sunday to the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: Sen. John McCain will give the command for drivers to start their engines at 2:33 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 2:41 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 312 laps (312 miles) around the 1-mile oval.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage will open at 8:30 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 12:30 p.m. Driver introductions are at 2 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: It will be performed by Jo Jo, Atlantic Records recording artist at 2:27 p.m.

TV/RADIO: NBC will broadcast the race (and streaming available at The prerace will start with NASCAR America at 1:30 p.m. on NBCSN and Countdown to Green at 2 p.m. on NBC. Victory Lap will air at 6:30 p.m. on NBCSN after the postrace show. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The site predicts 67 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

PAST TWO RACES: Defending series champion Kevin Harvick won both. He advanced to the championship round with a win here Nov. 9, 2014, leading 264 laps (including the final 187). He started from the pole and led 224 of 312 laps on March 15.
